The Story of Good Influencer: Born from Necessity, Built with Passion
I never set out to start a company like Good Influence(r). I never sat down and thought, "You know what the world needs? A place where content creators can learn to grow and monetize." If anything, I was just trying to figure it out myself. But as with most things in life, necessity has a way of turning into passion, and passion has a way of turning into something bigger than yourself.
Let’s rewind.
Where It All Started
In 2009, Chris and I started Chris Loves Julia. It was a humble beginning—just a couple of kids in love with DIY, trying to make our rented townhome feel like home. Our budget for home improvements was a whopping $20 a month. We borrowed tools. We repurposed furniture. We worked with what we had. And we shared every bit of it online.
Back then, the term “influencer” wasn’t a thing. We were just blogging. Sharing. Connecting. There was no roadmap, no monetization strategy—just a genuine love for creating, storytelling, and community.
The Instagram Shift
Fast forward to 2014. Instagram was picking up steam, and we decided to get serious about it. We took real photos with a real camera (no more grainy phone pics). We showed up every day. We engaged with our audience. We stayed consistent. And most importantly, we took risks—big, gut-driven, terrifying risks.
Then, in 2015, everything changed. Chris quit his job. We bet everything on our ability to create, share, and inspire. It was scary. It was thrilling. And it worked.
What followed was a whirlwind of partnerships with dream brands, product launches, and a growing community that felt more like family than followers. And along the way, something unexpected happened—we started mentoring others. Not in a formal way at first. It was DMs, emails, late-night conversations with fellow creators who wanted to know, How do you do it? How do you make this a career?
The Questions That Started It All
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve opened my inbox to a message that starts with, “I don’t want to bother you, but I need help.”
And the questions were always the same:
How do I grow my audience?
How do I get brands to notice me?
How do I monetize my content?
How do I balance passion and profit?
At first, I answered one by one. Then I started creating templates, guides, and scripts. Eventually, it became clear—this wasn’t just a need; it was a movement waiting to happen.
Good Influence(r) is Born
I didn’t start Good Influence(r) because I had extra time on my hands (spoiler: I didn’t). I started it because no one else was giving honest, real, no-BS advice to influencers who wanted to make this their career. Not the fluffy “just be yourself” advice. Not the “pay-to-play” scams, not the “follow-train” scams. Real, actionable guidance from someone who had actually done it.
Good Influence(r) was built for everyone.
The DIYer sharing their projects.
The fitness coach inspiring transformations.
The home cook filming recipes on their phone.
The artist turning their sketches into a brand.
The mom documenting everyday moments that make people laugh (or cry, because relatable).
This is for anyone who has a message to share, a community to build, and a dream to chase. Whether you have 100 followers or 100,000, whether you’re just starting or you’ve been at it for years, if you want to create content that matters and make a living doing it, Good Influence(r) is for you.
What Makes Us Different?
There are a lot of platforms out there promising growth, monetization, and success. So why Good Influence(r)?
Because we don’t believe in shortcuts. We don’t believe in gaming the algorithm, buying followers, or boosting posts just to feel like you’re growing. We believe in organic, real growth. We believe in building a brand that lasts. And we believe in giving creators the tools and support they need to do it in a way that’s sustainable, fulfilling, and profitable.
We focus on what actually works:
Daily, consistent content strategy.
Building an engaged audience that trusts you.
Niching into what you’re passionate about.
Monetization methods that don’t require selling out.
Brand partnerships that align with your values.
Understanding your analytics without getting obsessed with vanity metrics.
The Future of Good Influence(r)
Since launching, Good Influence(r) has become more than just a membership platform. It’s a movement. A support system. A community for content creators, influencers and small business owners who are serious about turning their passion into a career without losing themselves in the process.
And we’re just getting started.
We’re launching new resources, hosting events, and expanding our community in ways I never could have imagined back in 2009 when I was borrowing a power drill to make over our tiny townhome. But that’s the beauty of this industry—when you show up, when you commit, and when you’re willing to take risks, incredible things happen.
If you’re here, reading this, it’s probably because you’re one of us. You have something to share. You have a story to tell. And you want to do it in a way that feels good, that makes an impact, and that—yes—pays the bills.
So, let’s do it together.
Welcome to Good Influence(r).
